Historic Sousa Concert at the Armory - April 2023

Over three-hundred music and history enthusiasts enjoyed the free concert at the Cleveland Grays Armory Museum performed by the Hometown Concert Band of the Cleveland Federation of Musicians, Local 4, with accompaniment on the Wurlitzer Theater Organ by the Western Reserve Theater Organ Society. The concert honored the 24 concerts John Phillip Sousa performed at the Armory between 1898 - 1907.

The Cleveland Police Mounted unit joined in the festivities since Sousa’s infamous The Black Horse Troop march was inspired by and dedicated to the unit.

Bill Roediger, President of the Cleveland Grays Armory Museum, accepted the commemorative historical marker on behalf of the Armory.

Attendees also had the opportunity to tour the Armory after the concert.
